Abstract

Studies have shown that people travel to remote, austere areas to recreate. What happens when you become lost, fatigued, or injured in the backcountry?  Treating and transporting sick, injured, and lost victims in the backcountry can be challenging.  Interacting with Search and Rescue (SAR) agencies, fire services, and park rangers plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of individuals in these settings.  Finally, I will encourage participants to step out of their comfort zones and consider pursuing unique and challenging career paths in nursing.
