Accreditation in nursing education is both an evaluative and developmental process that demands strong leadership and collaboration. For a novice nurse leader, guiding a program through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) self-study became a transformative learning experience. This presentation reflects on the leadership growth that emerged through the process of coordinating faculty engagement, organizing evidence, and fostering a culture of shared accountability. Key lessons include the importance of effective communication, mentorship, emotional intelligence, and reflective practice in navigating complex organizational challenges. The experience highlighted how accreditation extends beyond compliance—it serves as a catalyst for professional development and institutional improvement. For novice leaders, it reinforces that leadership is cultivated through service, collaboration, and continuous learning. Ultimately, the accreditation journey strengthened both the program’s commitment to excellence and the emerging leader’s confidence to guide others with integrity and purpose.
